Learn Wordly

Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Learn Wordly collects when you visit the site or write to it, how that information is used and what choices you have. Learn Wordly is operated by Muneeb Khan, and you can reach him at contact@learnwordly.com.

1. Who we are

Learn Wordly (learnwordly.com) is an independent website about mythology across cultures. The operator is Muneeb Khan. Questions about this policy go to contact@learnwordly.com.

2. What we collect

  • Server log data. Like most websites, the host records your IP address, browser type, the pages requested, the referring page and the time of the request.
  • Messages you send. If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, your email address and your message. The form sends them to our inbox as an email. They are not stored in a database on the site.
  • Nothing else from the article pages. The articles have no accounts, comments, newsletters or tools that take input.

3. How we use it

Log data is used to keep the site running, to find errors and to guard against abuse. Messages are used to reply to you and to correct pages. We do not sell personal information.

4. Cookies and similar technologies

The contact form sets a short-lived session cookie so the form can check that a submission comes from the page you loaded. It is not used for tracking. Advertising partners, described below, may set their own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and most browsers explain how.

5. Google AdSense and the DoubleClick cookie

The site shows, or may show, advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and other sites on the Internet.

Google also uses the DoubleClick (DART) cookie. Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info. Visitors in Europe can use www.youronlinechoices.eu for the same purpose. Google explains how it handles data in its Privacy Policy. More information on how Google uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland may be asked for consent to cookies and personalized advertising through a consent message. Where consent is not given, ads may be limited to non-personalized ads. The consent message is provided through a consent management platform certified by Google, and it records your choice. You can change or withdraw that choice later by clearing this site's cookies in your browser, after which the message appears again, or through any privacy settings control the message offers. The parties that may set cookies on this site are Google and the advertising partners it works with; the site operator sets only the contact form's session cookie.

The site does not run an analytics service such as Google Analytics, and it does not use advertising-tracking tools other than those that come with the ads described here. The list of companies whose technologies Google may use to show ads is published in Google's ad technology providers list.

6. Google Fonts

Pages load fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser requests the font files from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address and browser details for that request. See Google's Privacy Policy for how it handles that data.

7. How content is compiled

Article content is compiled from multiple authentic reference sources. Visiting an article page does not send those sources any information about you from this site.

Pages may link to other sites, such as Google's ad settings. Those sites have their own privacy practices and we are not responsible for them.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy of it in a portable form and to complain to a data protection authority. To make a request, write to contact@learnwordly.com; we answer within the time the law of your country sets.

Europe and the United Kingdom (GDPR)

Under the GDPR we need a legal basis for each use of personal data. Server logs are kept on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and securing the site. Messages you send are handled on the basis of our legitimate interest in answering you, or your consent when you ask us to act on your message. Advertising cookies are used only with your consent. You may complain to the data protection authority in the country where you live; the European Data Protection Board lists them.

US state privacy rights (CCPA and similar laws)

California residents, and residents of other US states with privacy laws, may ask to know, correct or delete personal information, and may opt out of its sale or sharing for targeted advertising (the "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" right). We do not sell personal information. Ad cookies set by Google may count as sharing for targeted advertising in some states, and you can opt out of personalized ads in Google Ads Settings. Google honors Global Privacy Control signals where supported, so turning one on in your browser also applies. Restricted data processing, which limits how Google uses data for visitors in states with these laws, can be enabled in the AdSense account that serves the ads. To make an access or deletion request, email contact@learnwordly.com with the subject line "Privacy request".

10. How long we keep information

Emails are kept as long as needed to answer you and to record a correction, then deleted. Server logs are kept by the host for the period its own policy sets.

11. Children

Learn Wordly is a general-audience site. It is not child-directed and is not tagged as child-directed for advertising, and it is not directed to children under 13, as the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) defines that age. In the European Economic Area the age at which a person can consent for themselves is set by each country and can be as high as 16, so we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 without the consent the law requires. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us information, a parent or guardian can write to contact@learnwordly.com and ask for it to be deleted, and we will delete it.

12. Security

The site is served over HTTPS where the host provides it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

13. Changes to this policy
